Week 3

  1. What did you learn this week?
This week I learned the germination of a seed. Seeds are considered to be in a dormant state until they are given water, warmth, air, light, and soil. Once this happens and a sprout begins to form, the seed officially begins the germination process. With this information, in lab, we planted fast seeds, or barassica rapa.

  1. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?
One thing we worked on this week that I had previous knowledge on was life cycles. We discussed the life cycle of mealworms, butterflies, plants, and then we were asked replicate a life cycle using play-doh. We chose to recreate the life cycle of a turtle.

  1. How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?
I can apply what I have learned to my future teaching as it will be important for my students to understand and visualize life cycles. These could be displayed through mealworms, plants, butterflies, or any other life cycle that is available to see throughout my students lives.

  1. Hi Hanna! I 100% agree with how you will apply what we've learned to your future teaching. I would also like to use the same experiments that we did in class to further my student's understanding.

  2. Hi Hanna! I also think that the activities we did are good ways to apply in our future classrooms so that students can learn visually and different ways based on their learning abilities. I was also able to connect this information to information I had already known.

  3. Hey Hanna! I agree with your thoughts on how adaptable and valuable this lesson is in regards to our future teaching. I love how you explained how students being able to visualize different terms like life cycles helps them better learn the content. Application is key to increase retention amongst lessons! Awesome work!
