Week 10

What did you learn this week?

This week I learned about evidence for evolution through fossils. This information can be found in some of the oldest rocks. This is important because it allows us to study how an organism has changed. Along with this, it helps to support Charles Darwin's theory that very simple organisms gradually evolve into more complex ones.

How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?

I would use the bean predator lab. I thought this was very fun and interactive to show the predator vs. prey relationship. This activity was also very beneficial as it allowed the students to conduct and measure their own results along with the rest of the group. They were also given the chance to hypothesize and compare that to the result.

What are new or remaining questions?

When thinking about mutations, how do environmental factors influence the occurrence and prevalence of mutations in living organisms?

  1. Hi Hanna! You blog post looks great this week! I think that is a great question and I also think that this weeks activity can be used in future classrooms.
