Week 5

1. What did you learn this week?

One thing I learned this week was the concept of animals helping each other. In the video my group was assigned, we learned that some animals will team up and both benefit from each other. For example, some alligators team up with birds to help get their teeth clean. Or frogs will team up with tarantulas as the frogs receive food and shelter, and the tarantulas receive relief from biting ants.

2. How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?

This week we created our own food chain for the marine life. This will be useful in my future classroom as it will be important to show students examples or food chains, and how to create one.

Here is a picture of my groups food web!

3. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?

This week we discussed and worked through a 5E model lesson. Last week we discussed what a 5E model was, and each of the different components and this week we got to see it in action.

Here is an update on our fast plant!

  1. Hi Hanna! Your food web and plant look great! Your plant has grown so much and so fast compared to mine. My group chose marine life for our biome too! You did a great job!

  2. Hi Hanna!
I think it is very interesting that alligators and birds team up to help each other, and even more interesting that the birds help the alligators clean their teeth. I also really like that you said you would use a food chain like yours to show your students how a food chain works, I think that is a great idea.

  3. Hi Hanna! your blog post is great !! I find it so interesting that alligators and birds team up with each other to clean their teeth. It's crazy to think such aggresive creatures can be so gentle when needed. Your plant looks great!

  4. Hey Hanna! First off your seed germination looks like it made great progress in growth from week four to five! I also thought that the food chains with different biomes would be a great activity to include in a science lesson. It allows students to think deeply and challenges their curiousity while they learn new ideas! Great job!

  5. Your blog is great! I also believe using food chains in my future classrooms will provide good content for my students. I enjoyed your example of a food chain in a marine ecosystem!
    Good work.

  7. Hi Hanna! Oh my goodness! How did you water your plants? They look great! I love how colorful your map is. I loveeee sea life. Food chains are an amazing tool in science, and easily connectible to the 5E Plan. Great work.
