Week 12 - Climate Change
Lab - This week in lab we discussed the question How do we know that the goldfinch is in danger in Iowa? We found that the increase in humidity, 8-23% is leading to higher rainfall, and increasing temperatures at night. This is affecting crops, pets, and other animals, leading to loss of life. We also discussed the different questions about the Before the Flood film.
Press book -
This week we learned the difference between weather and climate. Weather is a short-term atmospheric conditions in an area like rain, or sun, weather can change day to day. Climate is the usual weather activity that can be expected for an area and time of year. Climate is measured in 30 year intervals. We then learn about why we should care about climate change and specifically its affects in Iowa. This includes more precipitation and drought, hotter temperatures, and impacts on agriculture.
